The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
Product: DERMAdoctor bodyGUARD Exquisitely Light SPF 30
Review: Skin was soft and felt good. No breakouts, unlike most sunscreens. Skin wasn’t oily-feeling but shined excessively. The matte finish promised was nowhere to be seen. Not water- or sweat-proof.
Grade: As a sunscreen: B+ / Non Comedogenic: A / Lived up to claims: C (only due to excessive shine).
Bottom line: If you are prone to breakouts it’s a great product - but use a light powder on top. Other DERMAdoctor products tried have been consistently decent. If you do not have breakout-prone skin, choose a different sunscreen.
Neutrogena Ultra Sheer
Product: Neutrogena Ultra Sheer™ Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 55
Reality: Product feel nice and dry on the skin. No shiny finish. Not sure if any product is sweatproof as they all can drip into eyes while sweating. Can cause occasional breakouts for those very sensitive. I did get sunburned on my forehead and nose while using this product but I was outdoors for three hours at a waterpark and did not reapply. User error.
Grade: As a sunscreen: A / Non-comedogenic: B / Lived up to claims: A- (only due to occasional breakouts)
Bottom line: All Neutrogena sunscreens have proven to live up to (most of) their claims. Definitely non-oily and non-shiny. Overall great product.
